Luxe Performance Race Update – WA Production Cars Round 2 at Collie Motorplex
Share
The second round of the WA Production Car Championship at Collie Motorplex was one for the books! With scorching temperatures pushing drivers and machines to their limits, the weekend delivered plenty of action, heartbreak, and record-breaking moments.
New Lap Record – Job Done! Brent hit the track with serious pace, laying down a blistering 1:19.0267 lap time in the last race—a new benchmark at Collie. Unfortunately, the celebrations were cut short after a lower control arm failure forced an early retirement. Despite the setback, Brent’s pace was undeniable.
Final Race Drama The last race of the weekend was set to be a strong finish, but when the red flag came out, things took an unexpected turn. Stuck on the grid under red flag conditions, the header tank let go, putting an end to Brent’s charge. It was a frustrating way to wrap up an otherwise promising weekend, but that’s motorsport—unpredictable and relentless.
Podium Despite the DNF Even with the mechanical gremlins, Brent still walked away with a P3 finish overall. It was a testament to his early weekend performance and sheer determination. Congrats to Jim for taking the outright win and Michael in the Mini for securing his first-ever podium in P2—great to see fresh faces on the podium!
The Rest of the Grid
-
Jim was last spotted sweeping up gravel out on track. Old stock car habits die hard!
-
Damo had a weekend to forget—his exhaust snapped at the turbo, took the fuel line with it, and just for good measure, he blew up another tow car over Mojitos at the Federal Hotel.
-
Kevin is still fine-tuning his VF, but at least it remains the best-looking car on the grid.
-
Kye kept us all organized with top-tier garage prep, right down to printed garage sheets—talk about attention to detail!
On to the Next Round! With Collie behind us, the focus now shifts to preparing for the next round. The Luxe Performance team will be working hard to iron out the mechanical issues and come back even stronger.
Next up, Brent will be heading to the Bathurst 6 Hour, back in the Commodore, and he can't wait to take on the Mountain once again!
Big thanks to our partners and supporters who keep us on track—without you, these weekends wouldn’t be possible.
Stay tuned for more updates as we push forward in the 2024 WA Production Car Championship!
